Top Ways to Enjoy October’s National Book Month
October is National Book Month, an observance that celebrates the importance of reading, writing, and literature in the United States. It is sponsored by the National Book Foundation. This initiative encourages people to develop a love of reading by making it a regular part of their day, visiting libraries and bookstores, and sharing their experiences on social media.
Celebrate by visiting your local libraries or bookstores
Share your reading experiences and post about books you love on social media and websites
Make your reading time special by setting up a cozy reading nook in your home
Create a new routine and read out loud to your children
Follow your favorite authors and stay up on their new works
Step out of your comfort zone and explore books in new genres
Give the gift of a book to friends and family
Set up a reading routine or book club with a friend or friends
Take your book to a coffee shop and enjoy a different location and a good cup of coffee
Check out events at your local library or support an independent bookstore in your area
Put up a little “Free Library” in your area. There are many oversized mailboxes filled with books popping up in neighborhoods all around the world. Share with others.
Start writing your own book. Everybody has a story to tell. It may sound daunting, but every great book started with an author sitting across from a blank page. Whether you journal every day or only write text messages, use this month to begin writing the story you want to tell. You never know who needs to hear what you have to say!

Veterans Day: Celebrating Patriotism and Sacrifice
Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day and started as an opportunity to remember the heroism of those who died in the service of our country. On November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the truce that ended World War I, we reflect on those who fought and died for our freedom.
The occasion was changed from Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954 to recognize veterans of all wars. We honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, their willingness to sacrifice and serve for the good of all, and for their love of country.
Many parades and ceremonies are held across the United States and various events are live-streamed, allowing people to participate from wherever they are.
National Ceremonies
In addition to the wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery, several other prominent national Veterans Day ceremonies take place across the United States, including:
- National World War II Memorial: Located in Washington, D.C., this memorial hosts an annual ceremony featuring speeches by dignitaries and veterans, as well as a wreath-laying event to honor those who served during World War II.
- Veterans Day National Ceremony: Also held at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C., this event includes the traditional reading of the names of veterans who have passed away in the last year, along with musical tributes and speeches.
- California’s Veterans Day Ceremony: Held at the California State Capitol in Sacramento, this ceremony features a program that includes musical performances, speeches from state officials, and a wreath-laying ceremony to honor California veterans.
- The Vietnam Veterans Memorial: This memorial in Washington, D.C., hosts special ceremonies that often include the reading of names of fallen soldiers and other tributes to Vietnam veterans, emphasizing remembrance and reflection.
On November 11, we hold great respect and gratitude for our veterans who selflessly gave their lives for all of us.

The Enchanting World of Dragomeir
Prophecy has foretold of a female child who will liberate the citizens of the Provinces. Making Thanksgiving Special
Thanksgiving is a special time of year when families and friends get together and enjoy a delicious meal and spend time with each other. We’re all so busy most of the time that making that extra effort to come together is important and doesn’t have to only include the traditional food. Here are some ideas to give your day an added boost of fun and tradition.
Participate in a turkey trot or just go for a walk and enjoy a leisurely stroll around your neighborhood or a local park.
Tune in to the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Watch the National Dog Show.
Start decorating for the holidays.
Football is another tradition, along with appetizers.
At the Thanksgiving table, let everyone say what they’re thankful for.
Thanksgiving movies are always a fun way to gather, either at home or the movie theater.
Play charades or bring out the board games.
Reminisce over family photo books.
Serve breakfast at a local soup kitchen or help deliver Thanksgiving dinners to the community.
Call relatives that may not have been able to come to your gathering and let them know you’re thinking of them.
Take an after dinner or evening stroll.
Most of all, remember to be grateful for the people in your life and for all your blessings!
