Holidays at Mt.Drago

In The Dragomeir Series, Book One – “The Emerald Dragon,” most of the dwellers of Mt. Drago are technically not from around Arizona or even from earth for that matter. The ones that are from here celebrate holidays in the same way as those who live in the smaller world. Good examples of that would be people like Bob Harris, and Ivory McNeil, both of whom came to the mountain from known places like Chicago and New York. During holidays like the one coming up, Thanksgiving, they celebrate in the same traditional ways that other people have for decades. Turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, and all of the trimmings served by the resident Stewards will be held this year at Mt. Drago on November, 27th 2014 at around noon. Hope to see you there! Turkey roasted over an open fire . . . nothing better!

DRAGOMEIR SERIES – Creature Features – “Pieces of Eight”

Pieces of Eight – Technically, they are genetically altered, Class Eight Demons. They appear in “The Emerald Dragon,” and were responsible for bringing the first of the Aguiva dragons. What the Dark Lord was looking for was a demon with the strength of a Class Eight, but with a much smaller overall size. These demons stand about six feet tall, weigh in at about two hundred pounds, and on the Provinces are considered tiny. The size factor was adhered to because of the Aguiva dragons. It takes a human sized person to fly one of the War Birds. Anything larger and the Aguiva wouldn’t be able to lift the weight.

The look and feel of the Pieces of Eight is very similar to their counterparts, the standard Class Eight Demon, just smaller with less pronounced facial features. They generally have dark brown hair and eyes. They are strong, fast, and fiercely protective of their War Birds. The demon pictured below is an artist’s rendition of Caleb, complete with his flight suit. Caleb flies the Aguiva dragon named Seven. There are one hundred and seventy- five demons within the ranks of the Pieces of Eight. Other intriguing creatures to come! Book Two of the Dragomeir Series, “Flight of the Aguiva,” Update!

Greetings Everyone!

It’s true, “The Emerald Dragon” is finished and available everywhere, but the story is just getting started. Book Two of the Dragomeir Series is fast approaching the finish line, and hopefully, will be out around the first of next year. It is entitled, “Flight of the Aguiva,” and is the continuing saga of Tanis, the rider to the Emerald Dragon, Demios. A new species of dragon will be introduced, as well as the addition of a breed of Saber Tooth Tiger.

More battles, more discoveries, and the return of some extremely colorful characters from “The Emerald Dragon,” are just some of the exciting twists and turns coming out of Mt. Drago.”

I hope you will follow the search for the second of the Crystal Keys and help the Dragons save the day again.

Solitaire . . .

DRAGOMEIR SERIES – Creature Features!

I have been asked by several people if I could give some insight into the creatures living in Mt. Drago. So I thought we’d start with the Hellhounds. Now for those who have not yet read “The Emerald Dragon,” the Hellhounds were helped by Queen Mother to make a mass exodus from the Provinces of Hell to Mt. Drago.

There, they took up shop in an area of the mountain called Tarin’s Gallery. The Hellhounds are a genetically altered species that started off with a considerable amount of Pit Bull in the heritage. No one is really sure what else besides wolf went into the mixture, but what we do know is that they went after size and stamina. The full grown males of this species top over three hundred pounds, stand about five feet tall and can run for days. They are predominately brown in color with brown eyes. They sport an opposing thumb and forefinger and have sparse uneven hair over their bodies, which are brown in color.

What the Dark Lords didn’t expect was in part the unknown factor mentioned previously, and what they got was a species on the fast track to sentience. Ten generations later they were no longer the trusted pet dog. Through sheer will and a lot of death and destruction they managed to escape to another of the Provinces, where they would be almost impossible to defeat.

By the eleventh generation they were not only intelligent, but self aware and very unhappy with the Dark Lords. That’s where Queen Mother entered the picture and gave them an opportunity they couldn’t ignore.

The Hellhounds of today are drastically different than the ones written about in history. The ones in Mt. Drago would rather not fight; they are vegetarians and prefer to stay in one place to rear their children. They are deeply spiritual and have a great sense of humor. To find out more about these creatures you can read the first book of the Dragomeir Series, “The Emerald Dragon,” or leave me a comment and I will be happy to answer any questions!

What does “Impressing” with a Dragon mean?

The act of impressing with a dragon marks an unbreakable lifetime bond. You become partners and best friends. The dragons control whether or not it happens, and ultimately who it will happen with. That single fact is immutable, and to the best of my knowledge has never been different.

The way the impression works is sadly all over the board concerning methodology. With Wyverns, the goal during the impression is generally to stay alive long enough to mount the dragon at the base of its neck or upon the upper shoulders. Once this has been accomplished, the impression is for all practical purposes over. If the dragon is old enough and has already accomplished the nuances of being airborne, then the maiden flight will take place, constituting their first flight together.

Wyvern dragons employ dry fire during the impression, knowing full well that if the potential rider is not fast enough, he/she will be toasted. They generally slow their reflexes down to accommodate accidents, but they are looking to see if the rider is compatible with combat and if they have the ability to apply themselves with dedication.

Aguiva dragons produce wet fire, which is really nothing more than liquid burning plasma. Unlike Wyverns, they do not blow the fire in a stream. The plasma is regurgitated as wad or ball of viscous, rotating, burning mucus which will burn through most substances on contact. They will use this during the impression but they generally aim short of the rider and it is used only as a show of power.

How a Wyvern selects a rider is somewhat of a mystery. We know that their entire society is an enclosed communal mind, and finding a rider in the mountain where they live makes sense. They can hear every mind that is present. The fact that they can and will find riders in distant places is where the mystery comes into play. The common theory is that they have the power and ability to hear every mind on the planet if they concentrate. Then over time it’s like they interview every mind individually, which may explain why in some cases it takes years to finally make a selection. At that point they call out to the potential rider until he or she responds by coming to the mountain. The dragon sends a homing beacon via thought and the rider simply continues to move toward it until they arrive.

How an Aguiva selects a rider is not so much a mystery as an examination of emotional content. They are affected by a person’s demeanor when they are spoken to. What they are looking for is an expression of endearment and there is no way to predict what will cause it. What is known is that whatever is said that causes the affect will ultimately become the dragon’s name. As an example, if you stated “Holy Cow” upon seeing the Aguiva, and it took that as the term of endearment, then it will repeat that phrase indicating it has chosen that as its name and you as its rider. You are now the proud rider to a dragon named, Holy Cow. On the other hand, if nothing you say to the Aguiva produces this affect, then no impression will happen. It’s very hit and miss and does require some training to minimize potential verbal disasters!

Greetings from Mt. Drago!

A lot of questions have been asked already about the ending of “The Emerald Dragon” and the second book in the Dragomeir Series, “Flight of the Aguiva”. It does my heart good to know that interest in these novels is growing. Thank you so much! At the end of Emerald, a young Aguiva dragon is missing (That’s pronounced Ah-Geeva).   The first part of the story involves the disposition of said youngster. You’ll remember him from Emerald as Bullba, dragon to the rider, Analise.

A second Crystal Key is located, new species are discovered and Tanis gets to fly Demi on another planet. We get to learn more about Queen Mother and some of her kids (I didn’t say that out loud). I’ve had so much fun with these books and I hope you do too.

I wanted to reveal more on the impressions with book two; you know, how dragons find their riders and how the system works for everyone. Sometimes things are not what they seem and life gets tough. Tanis learns that the impressions don’t always work the way he thought they were supposed to. Especially with Aguivas. There’s lots of action, with a great deal of fighting and plenty of dragon fire. I’ll keep you posted on when the first few chapters will go online. So stay tuned to see what’s coming next!
